Teaching
We teach Swing Era and Jazz Age dances from Lindy Hop (Swing) all the way back to the Castle Walk. We teach weekly dance classes at Sandra Cameron Dance Center in New York, where we run the Swing program. We also teach workshops regionally, nationally, and abroad. We’ve taught workshops in Toronto, Tokyo, Chicago and Washington, D.C.; at competitions, such as the Virginia State Open, at colleges, such as Ohio University and Hofstra University; K-12 schools, such as La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts, Brooklyn’s Poly Prep, Baruch College High School, and P.S. 93; and many regional dance events in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Mo’ Peabody & Charleston in NJ

We are teaching a second set of Peabody and Charleston workshops for New Jersey Jazz Society members as well as the general public on Saturday, February 17. The workshops will begin at 11 AM with two hours of Peabody basics, followed by a lunch break, then two hours of Charleston basics. Roaring Twenties Workshops & Dance Party

We are very excited that Jam Cellar, a well respected dance group based in Washington D.C., has invited us to teaching workshops and perform as part of a Roaring Twenties dance held at Glen Echo Ballroom on March 17, 2007. Swingin’ New Year’s in Toronto!
If you haven’t made plans for the New Year, please join Midori and me for a weekend of traditional jazz dancing and workshops (December 29-January 1) in Toronto, Canada! Last year, we had an incredible time in Toronto teaching Peabody, Charleston, Blues, Lindy Hop, and more. This year, we’re expecting an even better time as we will have plenty of chances to dance to live music (not to mention that Midori was a few months pregnant during our last visit). We perform and teach popular and historical social dances of the Jazz Age and Swing Era and have appeared on stage, independent film, and local and national television. Known for our performance and our research of social dancing, we also consult and choreograph for period productions, particularly those set in the Roaring Twenties. Though we do not regularly compete, we have placed in a number of competitions, including 1st in the 2004 American Lindy Hop Championships Fast Dance division.
