Jazz Age Celebration on Governor’s Island

On Saturday, August 5, Governor’s Island in New York Harbor will host an afternoon of hot jazz music (Michael Arenella’s Dreamland Dance Orchestra!!!) and dancing (Charleston, Peabody, Balboa, etc.), along with vintage automobiles, vintage clothing, and food. We will be teaching the Peabody to the island’s revelers, while our friend, Roddy Caravella, will be teaching the Charleston. The event starts at 12noon and runs until 4pm. (Continue reading…)

Indigo Arrives

On June 27, our first child arrived at 8:09am. He weighed 8lbs and 5oz. He already knows the Charleston, even if he doesn’t know it yet. He loves the Jazz for Kids CD that our friend Stacey gave him. We’re so proud of our new addition.

Dancewave Summer Intensive

We’ve been invited to teach at Dancewave’s Summer Intensive. The two-week long dance camp provides New York City’s youth the opportunity to study with Modern, Ballet, and Jazz dance teachers. Midori and I will be teaching a combination of Lindy Hop and the Big Apple during the camp’s second week.
